The Weekly Wrap #4
Things I created and enjoyed consuming over the last week.
A collection of 8 highlights including a sketch, a book, a podcast, Creators’ Corner, Crypto Corner, an essay, a quote and a thought.
Let’s dive in 👇
1/8. I drew something.
One of my goals for the year is to add more sketches to my essays. Excited to upskill here (for all of our benefit 😆 ). Essay coming out next week.
2/8. Book of the week 📚
The Prince by Machiavelli, the father of realpolitik. Written in the 16th century as an instruction guide for new princes and royals. The context might be different, but the principles remain relevant today.
3/8. Podcast of the week 🎙
Viral Writing 101 with @ShaanVP by the Ship30 founders @dickiebush @Nicolascole77. Shaan explains how he added 100k followers with 5 threads including the now famous Clubhouse take down.
4/8. Creators' Corner pt. 1 🎨
I purchased @evielync’s Twitter Growth Lab template. She has a range of brilliant Notions tools for makers and creators. Have a look at her Gumroad page here:
Creators' Corner pt. 2 🎨
My friend @LBacaj launched a video course. Timeless Career Advice for Software Engineers (but anyone really!).
Louie has enjoyed a meteoric rise on Twitter lately by being completely transparent with his finances, goals and motivations.
Sending the elevator back down and sharing his learnings from his career in Big Tech.
5/8. Crypto corner pt. 1 👾
@ericosiu explaining the lingo
Crypto corner pt. 2 👾
I aped into @CBCreepz 🦎 a play to earn NFT project. Traded at 1 Eth earlier this week from a 0.069 mint.
6/8. Essay of the week ✍️
The Centenarian Compass by @chr_iswong. Exploring the default path vs pathless path. This piece really resonated with me. Something about exiting the mimetic game.
Loved this line: 'If you believe that what you create is valuable, then “Do what you love, and you’ll never work another day in your life,” changes from a saccharine sentiment to something actionable.'
7/8. Quote of the week 💡
“Just write poorly. Continue to write poorly, in public, until you can write better.” - Seth Godin
Via Transparent Tuesdays by @BleeckerCharlie 🙏🏼
8/8. Thought of the week 💭
From @chrishlad. His North Star is to meet 24 new “forces of nature” in 2022. People with uncommon hustle and smarts. Immediately obvious they crush anything they set their mind to.
The Why:
• He gets energy from meeting new people
• Conversations are the fastest way to learn
• Improve your network, improve your outcomes
The How:
• Send 1 new cold DM / week
• Organize meetups throughout 2022
• Default to action: meet Twitter friends IRL, reach out when I love their content or company
That’s a wrap from the Weekly Wrap.
Have a great weekend and see you again next week. Go meet some forces of nature ⚡️
